South Carolina Next State To Sanction MMA

News Channel 7 in South Carolina is reporting that Mixed Martial Arts could be sanctioned by the state as early as tomorrow (Wednesday, May 14th). A bill will be debated on Wednesday by the State’s Senate subcommittee. Why the sudden urge? Well according to Michael Tyler, chairman of the South Carolina State Athletic Commission, “financially, we’re talking millions–millions of dollars not only in ticket sales but also in restaurants, hotels. All good things must come to an end, and at UFC 84, it will be the beginning of the end for Tito Ortiz and his run with the UFC.  Ortiz is in the last fight of his current contract, and there is no extension on the horizon, nor does he want there to be. He has left the UFC once before in a contract dispute, but this time it is different. The team over at RawVegas recently spoke to Wanderlei Silva about his upcoming bout with Keith Jardine at UFC 84 as well as what he wants to do after the fight. Silva spoke very highly of Jardine as he told RawVegas, “he’s [one of] the best three in the world”. Jardine is coming off of his UFC 76 victory over Chuck Liddell this past September and is looking to add another legend to his list. Read More…

Words Are His Weapons - It has been nearly a year since former UFC Lightweight Champion Sean Sherk set foot into the Octagon, but fans have not had much of an opportunity to miss him due to the fact that he hasn’t gone anywhere.
