Jon Fitch

Coming off of his record tying eighth straight victory in the UFC last Saturday against Chris Wilson at UFC 82: Pride of a Champion, Jon Fitch has pretty much been promised a title shot against whoever walks out of UFC 83 at the Welterweight champion. Fitch recently spoke to The Fight Network about Georges St-Pierre’s mental toughness.

Fitch pulled no punches when he gave his assessment about current interim UFC Welterweight champion, Georges St-Pierre when he told The Fight Network, “in his [St-Pierre’s] last performances is he’s become a wrestler. To me, that shows he’s afraid to get knocked out.”

With his most recent victory at UFC 82, Fitch tied Royce Gracie for the most consecutive wins in the UFC but he’s also riding a 15-fight win streak on top of that.

At the UFC 82 post-fight press conference, Dana White all but guaranteed Fitch as the #1 contender to the Welterweight title. He’s going to have to sit and wait to find out who’s going to come out of UFC 83 as the champion but its definitely something worth waiting for.
