The Ultimate Fighter

Coming off of his first win of the season, “Rampage” Jackson decided to milk the fight announcement until he finally spilled the beans and chose Gerald Harris (Team Rampage) to go up against Amir Sadollah (Team Forrest). We also finally get to see some bad blood between the two coaches for the first time this season.

During the Team Griffin training camp, Forrest Griffin makes a bet with Amir. If Amir wins, then Griffin will shave his own head, but if Amir loses, then Griffin will only shave half of his head for the duration of the show.

Sixth Fight
Gerald Harris (Team Rampage) vs. Amir Sadollah (Team Forrest)

Round 1:
Harris starts the fight with a quick double-leg takedown on Sadollah, which was a concern of Griffin going into the fight. While on the ground, Harris does a great job of avoiding any submission attempts and lands some elbows and punches from Sadollah’s guard. With 2:34 left in the 1stRound Sadollah is able to work his way back up to his feet, but Harris lands back-to-back “Rampage-like” slams on Sadollah. Every time Sadollah is able to work his way back up, Harris’ wrestling instincts take over and he’s able to score another takedown. Both fighters expend a lot of energy in the round, but Harris wins easily (10-9).

Round 2:
Sadollah starts off with a pair of left leg-kicks, but on the third attempt Harris is able to shoot in for a double-leg takedown. When they get back to their feet, Sadollah lands a right knee that grazes Harris’ face. Harris charges forward with a right-left-right combination which allows him to close the distance and score another double-leg takedown. When Sadollah gets back up, Harris starts to throw some sloppy punches and Sadollah lands a right-knee that drops Harris and allows Sadollah to finish the fight as Harris wasn’t defending himself.

Amir Sadollah defeats Gerald Harris by TKO (Referee Stoppage). Team Forrest is now up 5-1 on Team Rampage with Sadollah’s victory.

At the next fight announcement, Team Griffin selects Cale Yarbrough to take on Patrick Schultz, which means that CB Dollaway (Team Rampage) is taking on Nick Klein (Team Forrest).

Seventh Fight
Cale Yarbrough (Team Forrest) vs. Patrick Schultz (Team Rampage)

Round 1:
Both fighters start by throwing with Schultz getting the better of the inexperienced Yarbrough in the early exchanges. At the 3:58 mark of the 1stRound, Schultz lands a right that drops Yarbrough who is able to quickly recover. Both fighters are swinging for the knockout for much of the round with Schultz finding his sweet punch, the overhand right. Yarbrough finally shoots in and is able to take Schultz down with a little under 2-minutes to go in the 1stRound. Yarbrough is able to land some ground-and-pound until Schultz is able to kick Yarbrough away to get back to his feet. After some more exchanges, Yarbrough is able to score another takedown.

Round 2:
Schultz comes out a little more controlled in the 2ndRound as he throws a few left-handed jabs, but Yarbrough is finding his range as Schultz is starting to show his fatigue. Yarbrough scores another takedown and immediately gets into the half-guard to land some short elbows. Yarbrough pounds Schultz out for the final 3-minutes until the round ends.

After the fight is over, both sides expect a 3rdRound, but Dana White announces that a decision has been made and that Cale Yarbrough wins by majority decision. Some bad blood starts to spill over though as Griffin yells out, “Cale said he’ll fight a third round.” Rampage is open to a third round as well as he says Schultz dropped Yarbrough twice in the 1stRound, but Griffin says he only got dropped once. Schultz tells Griffin to, “get in the corner. I can’t wait for your fight with Rampage.” Jackson leaves upset and points to Griffin and says, “I bet you our fight doesn’t go to a decision. I bet you. I bet my whole purse on it.”

Team Forrest is now up 6-1 this season as both Griffin and Jackson are starting to get antsy for their fight.
