The stockings were hung by the chimney with care, and the only thing missing from Alistair Overeem’s (Pictured) mantle was a UFC title belt, which he hopes soon will be there. During Monday’s conference call, the former Strikeforce heavyweight champ said he fully intends to round out his trophy case.
“UFC’s the biggest promotion out there today, the biggest by far,” Overeem expressed. “They have the biggest, stacked heavyweight division. The UFC title is the thing missing out of my collection. Basically, I’ve cleaned up everything outside of the UFC.
“I went to K-1 and got the K-1 title, which already was an extraordinary achievement which I’m very proud of. UFC title is missing. That’s the only thing for me that’s [left] to achieve.”
Overeem owns an impressive 35-11 (1 NC) resume and was last seen posting a unanimous decision victory over Fabricio Werdum in June. “The Demolition Man” makes his big league debut against Brock Lesnar at UFC 141.
By posting his eighth straight victory, Overeem advances to a title bout against reigning champion Junior dos Santos. More importantly, he moves one step closer to completing his hardware collection.
