Ortiz Wants Emelianenko and Liddell – With ink barely dry on his UFC contract extension, Tito Ortiz is already calling for fights against heavyweight top dog Fedor Emelianenko and Chuck Liddell.
Ortiz has already signed-on to face Mark Coleman at UFC 106, but that hasn’t stopped the controversial one from expressing his desires to face other foes, particularly Fedor.
“I’m not sure if that’s gonna happen,” Ortiz stated of the possibility of Emelianenko ever fighting inside an Octagon. “Fedor doesn’t want to fight the best in the world, and that’s bad for his career. He’s got people around him telling him what to do. He should fight in the UFC and fight the best in the world.
“That’s what I did. I want to fight the best in the world, that’s what my fans deserve.”
Do Tito’s fans deserve to see him get in the cage for a third time against a man that TKO’d him the two previous times they met up? Regardless if his fans want it or not, “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy” does and that’s why he can’t seem to keep Liddell’s name out of his mouth since inking his UFC extension a few weeks back.
“I would have to say Chuck Liddell,” Ortiz said regarding who he would like to fight. “I made a few mistakes in both fights and he beat me twice. I gotta say it was Chuck. I would love a rematch, but too bad he’s retired. A rematch would be nice and I think the fans would love it.”
On the heels of Ortiz re-signing with the UFC, Liddell Tweeted that he would be more than willing to clear his schedule to whoop Ortiz’ tail for a third and final time.
“Sign me up to kick titos ass again,” Liddell posted on his Twitter account last month.
Considering Liddell is up 2-0, winning both in convincing fashion, there really isn’t much legitimacy behind seeing them square-off again. However, combining those two MMA names together on a fight card will surely peak pay-per-view interest.
When asked if the 34-year-old Ortiz had been keeping an eye on the younger talent that has emerged onto the scene, he responded in vintage Tito Ortiz fashion.
“There’s that one guy who’s been around a long time, Tito Ortiz I think. He’s coming back,” Ortiz confidently said.
Yes, Tito, believe me when I tell you that we ALL know…
