Fabricio Werdum (Pictured) has inked a four-fight contract to rejoin the UFC. The Brazilian will break in his new deal against Roy Nelson at UFC 143 on February 4th.
“Big Country” confirmed the hotly-rumored scrap on his Twitter account, while Werdum announced his employment status during a Q&A session at his gym on Tuesday.
Nelson snapped his two-fight losing skid in October by posting a TKO victory over Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic at UFC 137. The 35-year-old has won three out of his last five scraps.
Werdum parted ways with the UFC after an October 2008 defeat to Junior dos Santos. The Brazilian jiu jitsu specialist then rattled off three straight victories under Strikeforce’s banner, capping it off with an upset special over Fedor Emelianenko.
Unfortunately for “Vai Cavalo,” he returned from a year-long layoff to drop a unanimous decision to Alistair Overeem in the opening round of Strikeforce’s Heavyweight Grand Prix Tournament in June.
UFC 143 takes place inside the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. A interim welterweight title bout between Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit will headline the pay-per-view broadcast.
