It’s being reported that an infection will force UFC middleweight Dan Miller out of his “UFC Fight Night 19” scrap against C.B. Dollaway. The show must go on and the organization didn’t waste any time as they convinced Jay Silva to sub-in and make his Octagon debut on just eight day’s notice.
MMAjunkie.com confirmed Miller’s status with his manager, Mike Constantino, and MMAMadness.com reported Silva’s participation in the event.
Although Constantino would not specify what the infection was, he did state that his client’s situation “is under control, and [Dan] will be OK.”
Silva holds a perfect 5-0 MMA record, all ending in violent finishes, however Dollaway will clearly be his toughest test to date. It’s unfortunate that he hasn’t ended a fight via armbar because that just might be the secret to walking away with a W on September 16th.
Dollaway was caught in the exact same armbar twice by Amir Sadollah, once during the show’s semi-finals, and then again during their finals match-up at “The Ultimate Fighter 7 Finale” back in June 2008.
He was last seen getting submitted by Tom Lawlor at UFC 100 back in July.
No official word from the UFC regarding the change as of yet, however it should be coming shortly. The show will be popping off inside the Cox Convention Center in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
