UFC Middleweight Mark Munoz

On Tuesday afternoon, UFC president Dana White announced an undisclosed injury has forced middleweight Mark Munoz (Pictured) out of his top contender scrap with Chael Sonnen when the UFC returns to FOX.

With just 11 days remaining until showtime, White has promoted Michael Bisping into the card’s co-main event to stand opposite Sonnen. The victor will advance to challenge middleweight king Anderson Silva for his crown.

“Munoz is injured and out of the FOX fight! Now it’s Chael Sonnen vs Mike Bisping jan 28th and the winner will fight Anderson for the title,” White tweeted just moments ago.

Bisping was slated to face Demian Maia in the third bout airing in FOX’s live broadcast. No word on what the organization intends to do with Maia.

Bisping easily disposed of Jason “Mayhem” Miller at “The Ultimate Fighter 14 Finale” in December to collect his fourth straight victory. “The Count” has won five out of his last six scraps inside the Octagon.

The United Center in Chicago, Illinois hosts the January 28th festivities. Light heavyweights Phil Davis and Rashad Evans will headline the show.

Here is the card’s revised roster:
