It’s just another manic … Tuesday. First, former Strikeforce light heavyweight champ Muhammed “King Mo” Lawal was busted for steroids, then UFC middleweight Mark Munoz was forced out of his “UFC on FOX” top contender scrap with Chael Sonnen, and now the Canadian Press is reporting the Octagon’s return to Montreal has been shelved.
UFC 145 was slated to take place March 24th inside Bell Centre in Canada. However, due to “scheduling complications” the organization has opted to postpone the show.
“In the end it was all about making sure that we had a championship-calibre card for a championship-calibre city,” stated UFC director of Canadian operations Tom Wright.
Wright said he expects Montreal will still host an event later this year.
Most of the fights previously announced for UFC 145 will be shifted to the April 21st card in Atlanta, Georgia. Wright didn’t mention which scraps would be relocated.
Here are the athletes that were expected to appear in Montreal:
Keith Wisniewski vs. Chris Clements
Mac Danzig vs. Efrain Escudero
Anthony Njokuani vs. John Makdessi
Matt Wiman vs. Mark Bocek
Mark Hominick vs. Eddie Yagin
Ben Rothwell vs. Brendan Schaub
Gray Maynard vs. Clay Guida
Travis Browne vs. Chad Griggs
Rory MacDonald vs. Che Mills
