On the heels of yesterday’s report that the lightweight scrap between Kenny Florian and Clay Guida has been moved to UFC 107, word on the street is the organization is planning to beef-up the fight card as up-and-coming stud Todd Duffee will likely be making his UFC return on the December 12th show.
MMAjunkie.com is reporting that Duffee has been penciled-in to participate in the pay-per-view broadcast, however no potential opponent has been assigned.
Duffee has been prefect through his first five professional mixed martial arts contests, and looked exceptional in his Octagon debut at UFC 102 as it took him all of seven seconds to knockout Tim Hague.
Following that dominating performance, Duffee made it perfectly clear he wanted to fight again as quickly as possible, not only to ride that wave of momentum towards stardom, but also to climb the 265-pound ladder as quickly as possible.
It appears that the UFC concurred as they seem just as excited about the youngster. Throwing him back in the cage will only increase fan recognition, and if he’s able to post another sick KO, he will definitely have the MMA world’s attention.
Although the 23-year-old’s game is still pretty green, his sheer size, athletic ability and striking can make him a legit threat to the heavyweight crown one day.
Here is a rundown of the fighters rumored to be participating in the night’s event:
Todd Duffee vs. TBD
Thiago Alves vs. Paulo Thiago
Cheick Kongo vs. Frank Mir
Kenny Florian vs. Clay Guida
BJ Penn vs. Diego Sanchez (UFC Lightweight championship)
