UFC Jon Jones Rashad Evans

Don’t let the headline fool you, the reason UFC light heavyweight king Jon Jones is pulling for Rashad Evans isn’t because the mortal enemies have mended fences. Jones actually wants his friend-turned-foe to beat Phil Davis this Saturday so he can finally beatdown his former BFF.

“I’m picking Rashad Evans. I’m in his corner,” Jones expressed on FUEL TV’s post-fight show. “I want to fight Rashad. He’s the antagonist of my career.

“There’s no just pumping up pay-per-views when it comes to me and Rashad. Everything about us disliking each other is true. After we fight each other, it’ll all be clear and he can go have a seat somewhere.”

UFC president Dana White has already promised “Suga” next dibs at Jones’ crown should leave United Center in Chicago, Illinois victorious and unscathed. Speaking of avoiding the injury bug, the highly-anticipated shootout between the former teammates has already been postponed twice.

A hand injury suffered by Jones nixed their initial encounter at UFC 133, then Evans had his right hand surgically-repaired last fall and couldn’t answer the bell for UFC 140.

“Bones” is hoping to make his next title defense in April when the Octagon makes their return to Georgia. If Jones and Evans get their way, things could get pretty heated in Hotlanta.
