One of the UFC’s rising stars hasn’t been heard from much since his loss at UFC 87 to Kenny Florian. That was Roger Huerta’s first loss inside the Octagon. SI.com’s Josh Gross recently spoke to a representative of Huerta’s who told him that Huerta has purposely been out of the media’s eye to re-focus on his training.
Huerta blames his last loss on a lack of training due to distractions from having to live up to the hype that surrounded his name following his appearance on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
Instead of making the same mistake this time, Huerta has decided to limit his availability to the media during his training for his upcoming bout against Gray Maynard at UFC Fight Night 19.
According to the report, Huerta is in the best physical shape of his career and has only missed one day in the gym when he fulfilled a voice-over obligation for the upcoming animated movie Tekken.
We’ll see if Huerta can bounce back from only the second loss of his career on Wednesday at UFC Fight Night 19.
