Before this whole marijuana nonsense broke out, there was no fighter more interested in what took place between Nick Diaz and Carlos Condit at UFC 143 than reigning welterweight king Georges St-Pierre (Pictured).
With a potential blockbuster title unification bout against Diaz hanging in the balance, the UFC decided to mic up GSP and have him provide analysis during last week’s scrap.
Just to show how close the rounds were, UFC president Dana White claimed Diaz definitely took the first two frames. However, GSP awarded Condit with the opening stanza.
About halfway through the 25-minute affair, St-Pierre felt Condit was throwing a monkey wrench into his plans.
“Man, Carlos is spoiling the party now,” he stated.
Heading into the 5thRound, GSP had it knotted up at two rounds apiece. Although, he was far from certain. The champion gave Condit the first and fourth stanzas.
After the final horn sounded, Diaz walked over to St-Pierre and said something to him. The French-Canadian fired back with, “I hope you win, my friend. I hope you got it.”
I’m not a professional lip reader, but prior to hearing the controversial decision, Diaz was so confident he won that it appeared as though Diaz said, “What’s up Georges?” while smiling and pumping his fists.
What’s up is Diaz lost a unanimous decision and tested positive for marijuana shortly after.
UFC 143 took place last Saturday inside Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada.
