Former two-time UFC light heavyweight champion Randy Couture will officially make his return to the 205lb. division on November 14th. Couture will headline UFC 105 against Brandon Vera in a bout that could yield a potential #1 contender for the winner of the Lyoto Machida vs. Mauricio Rua bout at UFC 104.
Several sites, including 5thRound.com, had previously reported that Couture was dropping back down to the light heavyweight division. It’s possible that Couture could be looking at an immediate title shot if he can get past the younger Vera.
“I would love to be a six-time UFC champion, to set the bar very high in that regard, and that’s what I want to accomplish at 205lbs.,” said Couture. “That is my immediate goal. I am very intrigued by the current light heavyweight division. There are some great match-ups for me here and I believe I have the tools to win back the 205lb. title.”
