Octagon brass may be busy in Japan promoting Saturday’s pay-per-view broadcast, but it didn’t stop the world’s most prestigious MMA organization from adding a slew of scraps to the UFC 146 lineup. The May 26th event takes place inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
“The Ultimate Fighter 14” winner Diego Brandao (Pictured) makes his first start since winning the reality show. The Brazilian battles Darren Elkins in a featherweight affair. In addition, after collecting his fifth consecutive victory this past December at UFC 141, lightweight Jacob “Christmas” Volkmann returns to face submission specialist Paul Sass.
Also, former Strikeforce heavyweight Shane Del Rosario puts his unblemished résumé on the line against prior top contender Gabriel Gonzaga.
The fight announcements didn’t end there, as a 205-pound tango between UFC rookie Glover Teixeira and Kyle Kingsbury was also added to the lineup.
Although an official confirmation has yet to be made, a heavyweight title tilt with champion Junior dos Santos and Alistair Overeem is expected to headline the Memorial Day weekend card.
