In UFC president Dana White’s second UFC 144 video blog, which was recorded right before Friday’s press conference, he asked Quinton “Rampage” Jackson (Pictured) what his weight was at. Rampage replied while laughing, “You don’t wanna know.”
After he tipped the scales on Saturday inside Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan, nobody except opponent Ryan Bader was pleased to hear what Rampage weighed. The former champion clocked a whopping 211 pounds, five lbs. over the limit for a non-title light heavyweight affair.
“I’m sorry 2 my fans, the @ufc and my opponent. Thanks 2 Ryan 4 taking the fight. Sorry 4 not making weight,” Rampage tweeted.
Rampage will be docked 20 percent of his ‘show purse,’ which will go directly into Bader’s pocket. He made a reported $250,000 in his last fight, so Bader scores at least an extra $50k just for doing his job.
Rampage admitted on stage that he had issues during his training camp. He later went on FUEL TV’s live show and revealed he suffered an injury that prevented him from running as much as he wanted.
The 33-year-old didn’t disclose his wound to ensure Bader wouldn’t target it during their tango.
The light heavyweights co-headline UFC 144 tomorrow night.
