Late last month, UFC middleweight Mark Munoz (Pictured) underwent successful surgery to have 24 bone spurs removed from his right elbow.
At the time, Munoz thought he would be riding the pine for as long as eight weeks. However, after being examined by his surgeon Tuesday morning, it appears “The Filipino Wrecking Machine” can immediately resume his destruction.
“Gr8 news given by Dr Kvitne! I could start training!!!!!! I’m back!!!! 1 month ahead of schedule! Yeah boyeeeeee!!!” Munoz tweeted.
Munoz was forced to withdraw from last month’s top contender contest with Chael Sonnen when he heard a pop in his elbow during a sparring session. He likened the sensation to having “a rock in a door hinge.”
The 34-year-old bumped his record to 12-2 in November by posting a 2ndRound TKO victory over Chris Leben at UFC 138. MMA’s Mr. Nice Guy has won seven out of his past eight bouts and is perfect through his last four Octagon outings.
Depending upon how quickly he can regain strength in his right arm, Munoz could be back inside the cage later this summer.
