Ngo-stradamus Calls UFC 86

The world knows Nostradamus as the man that predicted many major world events. His prophecies are undeniable and have created quite the cult following. Well 5thRounders, Ngo-stradamus will look to do the same thing, but in the context of the MMA world. Coming off a rare unsuccessful round of predictions at UFC 85, going a subpar 2-3, the record still stands at 16-4 over the  last four UFC events. Read what the all mighty Ngo-stradamus foresees taking place at UFC 86.

Marcus Aurelio (+200) vs. Tyson Griffin (-260)

Aurelio has fought the best of the best, and has walked away with wins. Howeever, he has also been rather inconsistent throughout his career, posting key loses right when he seemed to be on the cusp of getting over the hump.  Regardless, Aurelio is a wizard on the ground so if this fight gets there, Griffin can find himself in a lot of trouble.

Griffin feels that he is close to title contention and knows that he can ill afford a loss if he wants to get there anytime soon.  He has rolled off three consecutive wins, however they have all come via decision. If this fight goes the distance, Griffin could be in trouble because that means this fight has gone to the ground. He needs to keep this fight standing and finish in exciting fashion. I smell an upset.

Ngo-stradamus predicts: Aurelio via Unanimous Decision

Chris Lytle (+250) vs. Josh Koscheck (-325)

Lytle continues his roller coaster career against a hungry and improving up and comer. He is coming off an impressive win in his last Octagon outing against Kyle Bradley, however Lytle hasn’t posted consecutive wins in almost four years.

Just a couple of fights ago, Koscheck was considered a top contender in the deep Welterweight division. In fact he was on the brink of a title shot before his loss to Georges St-Pierre two fights ago. Koscheck has improved his stand up immensely and has always had superior wrestling. Look for Kos to fall back on that if this fight doesn’t goes his way standing.

Ngo-stradamus predicts: Koscheck via Unanimous Decision

Gleison Tibau (+180) vs. Joe Stevenson (-220)

Tibau is a solid MMA fighter and an even better BJJ fighter. The best chance that he has in this bout is to get this fight on the ground and to catch Stevenson in a compromising position. However, Stevenson has superior wrestling skills so takedowns won’t be coming easy.

This is Stevenson’s first fight back from his open title bout loss to BJ Penn, and he looks to get back on the right track. Stevenson has improved in all areas of the game since winning The Ultimate Fighter Season 2 and has vowed to use that drive to earn himself another title shot. Much like Tyson Griffin, a loss would be devastating, especially to a lesser opponent.

Ngo-stradamus predicts: Stevenson via Unanimous Decision

Patrick Cote (Even) vs. Ricardo Almeida (-130)

Cote is one of the hotter fighters in the Middleweight division, winning three consecutive bouts. UFC President Dana White has already stated that the winner of this fight puts themselves right in line behind Yushin Okami to face Anderson Silva for his belt. Cote knows that this is a golden opportunity and will look to sieze it.

Almeida is not well known to most UFC fans, however, he hasn’t lost a fight in his last seven outings, winning his UFC debut his last time out.  He is an early favorite entering the fight, but money is starting to lean towards Cote.

Ngo-stradamus predicts: Cote via 3rdRound TKO

Forrest Griffin (+250) vs. Quinton Jackson (-325) (Light Heavyweight Champion)

Griffin is one of the UFC’s most popular and exciting fighters. This is his first fight since beating the world’s number one ranked Light Heavyweight Mauricio “Shogun” Rua. Just a few years back Griffin was set to walk away from the sport, then came The Ultimate Fighter Finale in which he and Stephan Bonnar competed in the most imortant fight in UFC history. Now, he finds himself one win away from UFC imortalitly.

Jackson is an impressive 3-0 since making the move over from PrideFC. He has taken the belt from the face of the UFC, in Chuck Liddell, and unified the 205-pound belts with a win over Dan Henderson in his last Ocatgon appearance. Although he has experienced much success in the UFC, Jackson does not have the sense of invincibility that champions in the past have had. This leaves a great window for Griffin to step in and capitalize.

Ngo-stradamus has already picked two upsets this holiday weekend, and get ready for a third. It is very tough to bet against a guy that has been an underdog his entire life and has always found a way to come out on top.  Call me crzay, but I think Forrest will have his hand raised at the end of this one.

Ngo-stradamus predicts: Griffin via 3rdRound TKO
