According to the UFC, a knee injury has forced Antonio Rogerio Nogueira out of his April 14th scrap against Alexander Gustafsson. As we all know fully well, the Octagon show waits for no man, as Thiago Silva (Pictured) has agreed to serve as substitute.
Silva initially posted a lopsided unanimous decision victory over Brandon Vera at UFC 125 on New Year’s Day in 2011. However, the Brazilian subsequently flunked his drug test and had his win overturned to a no contest.
The light heavyweight was also issued a year-long suspension and fined $2,500 by the Nevada State Athletic Commission.
He was slated to face Igor Pokrajac on May 15th. It is believed the organization will find Pokrajac a new opponent for “UFC on FUEL TV 3.”
Gustafsson is coming off a quick TKO victory over Vladimir Matyushenko at UFC 141. Following December’s bout, the up-and-comer expressed great interest in competing in front of his fellow Swedes.
