UFC Strikeforce Heavyweight Fabricio Werdum

A heavyweight affair between Fabricio Werdum (Pictured) and Mike Russow has been announced for UFC 147.

Werdum made his successful return to the big leagues by posting a unanimous decision victory over Roy Nelson at UFC 143. He initially parted ways with the UFC after an October 2008 defeat to Junior dos Santos. The Brazilian jiu jitsu specialist then rattled off three wins in four outings under Strikeforce’s banner.

Russow is perfect through four scraps inside the Octagon. The 265-pounder most recently defeated John-Olav Einemo at “UFC on Fox 2” in January.

The event takes place June 23rd in Brazil. However, the organization is still looking to secure a venue to host the fiesta.

Here are the athletes expected to perform in jiu jitsu country:

Jose Aldo (UFC Featherweight Champion) vs. TBD

Milton Viera vs. Felipe Arantes

“TUF: Brazil” Featherweight Finals

“TUF: Brazil” Middleweight Finals

Fabricio Werdum vs. Mike Russow

Vitor Belfort vs. Wanderlei Silva
