“Bellator 61” officially has a new main event. According to USAToday, Eric Prindle (Pictured) will be forced out of his much-anticipated rematch against Thiago Santos.
Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney claims Prindle started vomiting Wednesday night after showing flu-like symptoms. The Louisiana Boxing & Wrestling Commission subsequently suggested the heavyweight affair not go down Friday inside Horseshoe Riverdome in Bossier City.
Rebney is hopeful the 265-pound shootout will be rescheduled next week at “Bellator 62.”
Prindle and Santos met this past November in the Finals of Bellator’s Heavyweight tourney. Their scrap was declared a no contest after Santos delivered an accidental illegal blow to his opponent’s groin, which put Prindle out of commission.
The middleweight quarterfinal tournament bout between Maiquel Falcao and Norman Paraisy now headlines tomorrow’s festivities.
