Better late than never, as the finals of Season Five’s Heavyweight Tournament will finally come to its conclusion this Friday at “Bellator 62.”
Eric Prindle and Thiago Santos were slated to rematch last week, but Prindle was forced to withdraw at the 11th hour after falling ill to flu-like symptoms.
“I’m just ready to get into the cage and end this,” Prindle stated. “I’m a warrior and want my shot against Konrad.”
The 265-pounders initially met this past November. Their matchup was declared a no contest after Santos delivered an accidental illegal blow to his opponent’s groin.
“Now I’ve just got one more week to train and one more week to think about winning,” Santos said. “It sounds like Eric may have been sick and I don’t want to fight with any excuses. I want to beat him at 100 percent.”
The two will vie for a $100,000 paycheck and next dibs at Cole Konrad’s heavyweight crown.
Bellator will also host the opening round of their lightweight tournament in the event.
The show takes place inside Laredo Energy Arena in Laredo, Texas. Spike.com will stream a handful of preliminary scraps live at 7PM ET/4PM PT, while the MTV2 broadcast of the night’s featured fights begins at 8PM ET/PT.
