UFC Demian Maia

Exactly one week after Demian Maia (Pictured) announced he would be moving to the welterweight division, the Brazilian’s employer wasted no time in throwing him into the fire. The submission specialist will meet Dong Hyun Kim at UFC 148.

Maia owns a 15-4 overall record and has posted a respectable 9-4 mark inside the Octagon. The 34-year-old has dropped two of his last three fights and was most recently seen losing to Chris Weidman in January.

Kim bounced back from the only defeat on his résumé by hanging a unanimous decision victory over Sean Pierson at UFC 141 this past December.

The organization also reported a middleweight tango between Riki Fukuda and Constantinos Philippou for the July 7th event.

MGM Grand Garden Arena, Las Vegas, Nevada will host the festivities. Bantamweight champ Dominick Cruz is expected to headline the show opposite Urijah Faber.

Here is the card’s current roster:

Riki Fukuda vs. Constantinos Philippou

Renan Barao vs. Jeff Hougland

Demian Maia vs. Dong Hyun Kim

Tito Ortiz vs. Forrest Griffin

Michael Bisping vs. Tim Boetsch

Rich Franklin vs. Cung Le

Urijah Faber vs. Dominick Cruz (UFC Bantamweight Champion)
