Bellator Eric Prindle

Eric Prindle (Pictured) took the scenic route, but he ultimately pocketed $100,000 for “winning” Season 5 of Bellator’s Heavyweight Tournament after Thiago Santos failed to make weight on Thursday.

On his first foray to the scale, Santos weighed in at 277.8 pounds, more than 11lbs. over the limit for a non-title heavyweight affair.

Prindle and Santos met this past November in the finals of the tourney, but their scrap was declared a no contest after Santos delivered an accidental illegal blow to his opponent’s groin.

They were scheduled to rematch last Friday at “Bellator 61,” but Prindle was forced to withdraw at the 11th hour after coming down with flu-like symptoms.

Prindle now gets next dibs at Cole Konrad’s heavyweight crown.

The fight cancellations didn’t end there, as the previously scheduled bout between Cosmo Alexander and Oscar de la Parra was scrapped for undisclosed reasons.

“Bellator 62” takes place tomorrow night inside Laredo Energy Arena in Laredo, Texas. MTV2 will broadcast the main bouts at 8PM ET/PT.
