UFC Middleweight Court McGee

On Thursday morning, a middleweight rematch between Court McGee (Pictured) and Nick Ring was confirmed for the UFC 149 lineup.

However, the July 21st showdown will mark their first professional bout against each other. The 185-pounders initially met in the opening round of “The Ultimate Fighter 11” tournament. Ring took a hotly-contested majority decision in their first go-round.

McGee would later return to the reality show as a replacement when Rich Attonito broke his hand. The sequel was set for the quarterfinals of the tourney, but Ring was forced to withdraw from the contest after injuring his knee.

McGee went on to win the competition and secure his Octagon future with a six-figure UFC contract.

UFC 149 takes place inside Scotiabank Saddledome in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. Featherweight king Jose Aldo will defend his throne against a yet-to-be determined opponent in the night’s featured attraction.

Here are the athletes expected to appear up north:

Jose Aldo (UFC Featherweight Champion) vs. TBD

Bryan Caraway vs. Mitch Gagnon

Court McGee vs. Nick Ring
