For those of you longing for some Octagon action, don’t fret because we’re just 12 days away from witnessing “UFC on FUEL TV: Gustafsson vs. Silva.” The card will be available on free television, so hopefully that helps make up for the organization’s extended hiatus.
Alexander Gustafsson (Pictured) was slated to headline the show opposite Antonio Rogerio Nogueira until a knee injury forced Little Nog to withdraw from the scrap. “The Mauler” will now welcome Thiago Silva back to action after serving a year-long drug suspension.
Gustafsson will be riding a four-fight winning streak into the light heavyweight affair. He is coming off a quick TKO victory over Vladimir Matyushenko at UFC 141.
At the tender age of 25, Gustafsson is considered to be one of the hottest prospects in the weight class.
Silva initially posted a lopsided unanimous decision victory over Brandon Vera at UFC 125 on New Year’s Day in 2011. However, the Brazilian subsequently flunked his drug test and had his win overturned to a no contest.
He was slated to face Igor Pokrajac on May 15th, but couldn’t pass on the opportunity to serve as the featured fight in his comeback bout.
The Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm will host the Octagon’s debut in Sweden. FUEL TV will air the show in North America at 3PM ET/12PM PT.
