The injury bug strikes again. Less than 10 days until the curtain is drawn on the Octagon’s debut in Sweden, it has been announced undefeated Jorgen Kruth will be forced to withdraw from “UFC on FUEL TV: Gustafsson vs. Silva” with an undisclosed injury.
No need to fret, because Ring of Combat champion Tom DeBlass has agreed to serve as a last-minute substitute and face Cyrille Diabate (Pictured) on April 14th. The 205-pounders will appear in the night’s preliminary card, which is expected to stream live on the UFC’s Facebook page.
DeBlass makes his big league premiere having won all seven of his professional mixed martial arts fights.
Prior to Diabate’s current 1-2 skid, the French kickboxer had rattled off victories in 10 of his last 11 outings. Nine of those Ws came via devastating finish.
The event takes place inside Ericsson Globe Arena in Stockholm, Sweden. FUEL TV will broadcast the show live in North America at 3PM ET/12PM PT.
Light heavyweight Alexander Gustafsson headlines the festivities in front of his hometown peeps against Thiago Silva, while a middleweight tussle with Brian Stann and Alessio Sakara serves as the night’s co-main attraction.
