JZ Cavalcante Meets Isaac Vallie-Flagg at ‘Strikeforce: Grand Prix Heavyweight Tournament’

Although Blackzilian teammate Alistair Overeem was handed some disappointing news today, JZ Cavalcante (Pictured) received thrilling news regarding his fight future. On Wednesday afternoon, it was announced the lightweight will meet Isaac Vallie-Flagg at “Strikeforce: Grand Prix Heavyweight Tournament.”

Cavalcante was last seen taking a split decision win over Bobby Green in July 2011.

Vallie-Flagg will be riding a nine-fight winning streak into the scrap.

The May 19th event takes place inside HP Pavilion in San Jose, California. Josh Barnett and Daniel Cormier will headline the festivities by meeting in the finals of the Heavyweight Grand Prix.

Lightweight king Gilbert Melendez completes his trilogy against Josh Thomson in the night’s co-featured contest.

Showtime Extreme airs the preliminary bouts at 8PM ET/PT, while Showtime will broadcast the main card at 10PM ET/PT.
