The unprecedented buildup for tonight’s “UFC 145: Jones vs. Evans” extravaganza inside Philips Arena in Atlanta, Georgia has already paid big dividends. The heavily-hyped show is officially a sellout.
However, the UFC did not announce exactly how many seats will be occupied this evening. That tally should be made available at the post-fight press conference.
This event marks the Octagon’s second foray into the ATL. UFC 88 was the organization’s debut in Hotlanta.
The September 2008 card, which was also held in Philips Arena, attracted 14,736 fanatics for a $2.6 million gate. Despite its solid numbers, that event was not considered a sellout.
UFC 88 showcased a light heavyweight scrap between Rashad Evans and Chuck Liddell. Rich Franklin and Matt Hamill served as the co-featured attraction.
Speaking of “Suga” Rashad, Evans will stand opposite light heavyweight king Jon Jones in tonight’s main event. The archenemies have done more than their fair share to sell this fight over the past 13 months.
The pay-per-view broadcast begins live at 10PM ET/7PM PT. While the venue will be a standing room only affair, don’t expect for UFC president Dana White (Pictured) to give his ovation until after he receives the official PPV buy rate.
