Invicta Fighting Championships made their mixed martial arts debut on Saturday night. “Invicta FC 1: Coenen vs. Ruyssen” took place inside Memorial Hall in Kansas City, Kansas and featured a scrap between former Strikeforce champion Marloes Coenen and Romy Ruyssen.
The show marked the first major all-female MMA card.
Although Coenen entered the scrap as the odds-on favorite, she was at a disadvantage because Ruyssen failed to make weight on Friday. Coenen tipped the scale at 146 pounds, while her opponent clocked 149.8 pounds.
It’s not like it mattered, as Coenen trounced Ruyssen for an easy unanimous decision victory.
