Less than a week after signing his UFC contract, Hector Lombard has already been issued his first Octagon assignment. On Sunday afternoon, UFC president Dana White announced middleweight Brian Stann (Pictured) will welcome the former Bellator champion into the big leagues.
Stann has rattled off wins in four of his last five fights, with his most recent coming earlier this month in a vicious TKO over Alessio Sakara. Stann’s lone blemish during his present run came against current top contender Chael Sonnen.
Lombard has strung together 24 consecutive wins and has long been considered to be one of the planet’s top 185-pounders not competing in the UFC. He was last seen posting a TKO victory over Trevor Prangley at “Bellator 58” this past November in a 195-pound catchweight bout.
All but one of “Lightning’s” wins for Bellator ended via some form of knockout.
White didn’t confirm when the middleweight shootout would go down. However, Mike Brown, Lombard’s American Top Team training partner, tweeted his debut would take place August 4th. If that’s the case, the UFC’s fourth show on FOX will host the scrap.
