Mirko Cro Cop was originally scheduled to fight K-1 star Jerome LeBanner in an MMA match at DREAM.5 on July 21st, but LeBanner has decided to fight Sammy Schilt in a K-1 event. LeBanner’s replacement was “Mighty” Mo, but after he was forced to pull out of the fight, Cro Cop determined that maybe it would be better if he took some time off. “I’ve been having problems with my right elbow for years. The second problem is a knee injury, something that troubles me for quite a while,” Cro Cop explained via his blog.

Cro Cop plans to be available to fight again in September and a possible opponent could be Alistar Overeem. After Overeem and his team had made a comment that Cro Cop had declined a possible fight, Cro Cop replied, “why would I decline this offer? I came to DREAM to fight the best and I’m looking forward to see DREAM signing more top level heavyweights.”

Both fighters have had their struggles recently, as Overeem has lost 4 out of his last 5 fights, but is coming off of a victory over Paul Buentello. Cro Cop on the other hand is coming off of a victory against an over-matched Tatsuya Mizuno.
