In proving that everybody loves a winner, freshly-minted lightweight champion Benson Henderson (Pictured) racked up a pair of UFC Twitter bonuses for his popularity on the blue-birded social media network.
Henderson double-dipped by walking away with most followers and biggest percentage growth in followers since the end of quarter two. Each award paid out $5,000, allowing “Smooth” to pocket a cool $10k. #Winning
Strikeforce’s Joe Duarte also collected the same paychecks as Henderson.
Tweeting Rules and Regulations:
All current Zuffa fighters were separated into FOUR divisions. The Twitter divisions were based on how many followers they currently had on the blue-birded network.
The company selects FOUR division winners from each of the THREE categories at the end of every quarter (Zuffa put this plan into effect on June 1st).
Winners were based on:
1) Who has gained the most followers since the start of the quarter.
2) Which fighter garnered the highest percentage of new followers.
3) Who posted the most creative tweets. (Determined by Dana White)
Winners will receive a $5,000 bonus.
In all, Octagon brass will shell out $240,000/year to their most productive tweeters.
