Only two episodes into this season’s “The Ultimate Fighter” reality series and we’re already going to see the show’s most anticipated fight. It was announced by Rashad Evans on Wednesday’s episode that Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson will be taking on Roy Nelson next week.
Nelson is a former IFL heavyweight champion that carries with him a ton of experience in the sport, something that Kimbo is clearly lacking. Not to mention the fact that the competition Slice has faced is nothing compared to what Nelson has already seen.
Although Nelson won seven of his last ten pro scraps, his three losses came against the likes of Ben Rothwell, Andrei Arlovski and Jeff Monson, respectively.
On the other hand, Kimbo has fought against Bo Cantrell, Tank Abbott, James Thompson and Seth Petruzelli, a bout he lost. However, let’s not forget to mention the slew of talent the street fighting legend must have faced in his many backyard battles (sarcasm at its finest).
There is no doubt that next week’s episode is going to be a ratings bonanza for the UFC and Spike TV, and we can probably assume that the announcement of next week’s fight was aired at the end of tonight’s episode because the UFC wanted some extra hype for the bout.
Ready or not, Kimbo is headed straight for our living rooms with an opportunity to silence his critics … or prove all of them right.
