Strikeforce is officially heading east for Fedor Emelianenko’s debut under their banner. The organization has just confirmed that “Strikeforce: Fedor vs. Rogers” will be taking place at the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois on November 7th.
Tickets for the event will go on sale to the general public this coming Monday, September 28th, however “Strikeforce Insiders” will get first dibs this coming Friday.
If you can’t make it out to Illinois for the show, don’t worry because CBS will broadcast the event live on the east coast and it will be made available via tape delay everywhere else. Damn you CBS!
This fight card is by far the biggest in Strikeforce’s brief history and can serve as a great coming-out party for either main event fighter.
Most American fans only know Fedor by name, having not really seen his talents on display, particularly live. While CBS provides the platform, he must back up the hoopla and justify his efforts to carry another entire MMA organization.
Although Emelianenko hasn’t lost a fight in over eight years, Rogers has the size, strength and explosiveness that could present some challenges for the Russian. If he is able to pull off the upset, it would make for a great rags-to-riches story for the former Sam’s Club tire repairman.
The card will also feature a middleweight bout between bitter rivals, “Bully Beatdown” host Jason Miller and former EliteXC welterweight champ Jake Shields.
