Strikeforce Daniel Cormier

If you happened to miss Saturday night’s “Strikeforce: Heavyweight Grand Prix Final” event, no worries because Showtime has released the show’s highlights for your viewing pleasure.

Daniel Cormier (Pictured) put on the performance of his life by dominating former UFC champion Josh Barnett to win the Heavyweight Grand Prix via unanimous decision. Cormier served as a replacement and wasn’t even considered to be one of Strikeforce’s top 265-pounders when the eight-main tournament was arranged.

Gilbert Melendez retained his lightweight crown by posting a controversial split decision victory over Josh Thomson in the card’s co-featured attraction. After getting beat in their first meeting, “El Niño” has stormed back to take the last two.

HP Pavilion in San Jose, California hosted the festivities.
