The California State Athletic Commission has released the official salaries for all of the contestants who competed in last Saturday’s “Strikeforce: Heavyweight Grand Prix Final” event.
While Daniel Cormier may have taken home this monstrosity by beating Josh Barnett (Pictured) in the show’s featured attraction, Barnett was still the card’s highest earner.
“The Warmaster” pocketed a flat $200,000 salary for his 25 minutes of work. Cormier earned $100k, with half of his check coming via win bonus.
Gilbert Melendez scored the night’s second-largest purse. The lightweight champ earned $175,000 for his controversial win over Josh Thomson. “The Punk” made $90,000.
Please keep in mind, the numbers that get reported to the athletic commissions are only of what’s required. These figures do not include deductions for items such as licenses and taxes. Additionally, they do not contain money paid to the fighters by sponsors.
HP Pavilion in San Jose, California hosted this past weekend’s festivities.
