The California State Athletic Commission has medically suspended nine athletes who competed in this past Saturday’s “Strikeforce: Heavyweight Grand Prix Final” event.

Featured fighters Daniel Cormier (Pictured) and Josh Barnett could each be riding the pine for up to 180 days following their 25-minute battle, but both heavyweights can return to action sooner with authorization from a physician.

Cormier has to have his right second-finger examined for a possible fracture, as well as the laceration on his left eyelid.

Although Barnett is suspended for a “possible” left hand fracture, the X-ray he posted confirms his haymaker is in fact broken. Barnett also needs to have his facial lacerations looked at.

HP Pavilion in San Jose, California hosted this past weekend’s festivities.

Here is the card’s official IR list:

Daniel Cormier: Suspended for 180 days, but can be cleared by a physician for possible right second-finger fracture and 60 days unless cleared by a physician for left eyelid laceration.

Josh Barnett: Suspended for 180 days, but can be cleared by a physician for possible left hand fracture and 60 days unless cleared by a physician for multiple facial lacerations.

Josh Thomson: Suspended for 180 days, but can be cleared by a physician for possible left knee fracture and possible right hand fracture.

Isaac Valle-Flagg: Suspended for 60 days, but can be cleared by a physician for a one-inch laceration for right south orbital area.

Gesias “JZ” Cavalcante: Suspended for 180 days, but can be cleared by a physician for possible left shoulder ligament injury.

Virgil Zwicker: Suspended 30 days for a hard bout and 180 days for a possible left middle finger fracture, but can be cleared by a physician.

Yuri Villefort: Suspended for 180 days, but can be cleared by a physician for possible right knee ligament injury.

Bobby Green: Suspended for 180 days, but can be cleared by a physician for possible third finger fracture on left hand.
