They say the mark of a true champion is determined by how they bounce back from adversity. After losing his heavyweight crown in merely 64 seconds, some wondered if former UFC champ Cain Velasquez (Pictured) would ever recover from his first professional blemish.
Velasquez was thoroughly disappointed after November’s defeat to Junior dos Santos and he certainly made Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva feel his wrath on Saturday night at UFC 146.
After tripping the Brazilian to the canvas in the opening seconds, Velasquez turned their battle into a bloodbath by slicing Silva’s head open with a sharp elbow and followed up with some vicious ground-and-pound to boot.
Three minutes and thirty-six seconds after stepping into the Octagon and Velasquez was raising his hands after collecting his 10th career victory.
UFC 146 took place inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
