For those wondering where former UFC light heavyweight champion Forrest Griffin has been since his knockout loss to Anderson Silva at UFC 101, you’ll be glad to know that Griffin recently got married and will be going on his honeymoon shortly.
Dave Farra of MMA:30 recently spoke to the first “Ultimate Fighter” champion in his first interview since running out of the Wachovia Center.
Following his recent marriage, Griffin doesn’t seem in a hurry to return to the Octagon.
“I mean, I haven’t run out of money since the last [fight] so, no,” Griffin responded when asked if he will be fighting in the near future.
When asked about possibly facing Rich Franklin following Franklin’s loss to Vitor Belfort at UFC 103, Griffin responded by saying, “Somebody told me I was fighting Rich [Franklin] today.”
Farra followed up by asking Griffin if he would indeed be fighting Franklin and Griffin’s reply was, “Not that I know of. Like I said, I’m not even training. I’d prefer they not tell me who I was fighting until I’m actually working out a little bit.”
Never one to back down from a fight, it’ll be interesting to see when Griffin returns to the Octagon.
