A heavyweight title bout between champion Junior dos Santos (Pictured) and Frank Mir headlined tonight’s UFC 146 pay-per-view broadcast.

MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada hosted Saturday’s festivities.

It was an action packed night of fights, as only three of the card’s 12 scraps ended via decision.

Here is the play-by-play from dos Santos vs. Mir:


Herb Dean is the third man inside the Octagon. Mir immediately goes for a single-leg takedown, but dos Santos manages to wiggle free. Not much action in the opening two minutes. Dos Santos connects on a left hook to the face. Mir lands three straight leg kicks, knowing he doesn’t have to worry about getting taken down. The champ tags him with a straight right and follows up with a big body shot. Dos Santos stuns him with a right hook and goes in for the kill with a barrage. Mir manages to survive the onslaught. Early notes: Mir looking to take away dos Santos’ lead leg with leg kicks and “Cigano” is much quicker to the punch. Dos Santos, 10-9.


Dos Santos drops him with a violent right hook and waives Mir back up. Mir eats another right haymaker. The Brazilian floors him again with a straight right and goes in for the kill. Dos Santos drops one final hammer fist to officially end things. Game. Set. Match, 2Santos.
