Now that it appears Cain Velasquez will get the opportunity to avenge his loss to UFC heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos, Velasquez was asked to explain why the rematch will be different than their November meeting where “Cigano” put him to sleep and has his title wrapped around his waist by the time he regained consciousness.

Changes clearly need to be made and Velasquez already knows exactly what adjustments to make.

“His hands are always good,” Velasquez stated at the UFC 146 post-fight press conference. “His movement, in and out, being quick. His takedown defense is good. That’s always how he looks.

“I think just bring more of the fight to him than what I did before. I stayed too long on the outside where he’s dangerous. He has his fast, heavy hands and good foot work. Just take more of the fight to him.”

Although Velasquez never defended the crown under his watch, was put down in merely 64 seconds by dos Santos and only posted one win since losing the strap, UFC president Dana White feels the timing might just be right to arrange the 265-pound sequel. The former champ couldn’t agree more.

“The only reason why I got into this sport is to be champion,” said Velasquez. “I just don’t feel right right now without having [the belt].

“[The rematch will] definitely be much better, from my part.”

No word on when Dos Santos vs. Velasquez II might go down.
