As Ted Mosby’s mom once poignantly said, “Nothing good ever happens after 2AM.” UFC light heavyweight king Jon Jones (Pictured) getting arrested on suspicion of DUI at 5 o’clock in the morning is a case in point.
Until Wednesday, very little information has emerged since the unfortunate May 19th incident. According to the police report, first obtained by SI.com, Jones was not traveling alone when he wrapped his $190,000 Bentley around a telephone pole in Binghamton, New York.
Two 25-year-old women – neither of which is Jones’ fiancée, Jessie Moses, who “Bones” has two young daughters with – were both injured in the accident.
Cara Johnson was riding shotgun, while Michele Vojtisek sat in the back passenger seat.
Vojtisek suffered bruising and cuts on the right side of her face, one above her eye and one below. Johnson had a nosebleed, complained of shoulder pain and had bruising from the seat belt.
The ladies were treated at nearby Wilson Hospital.
Their relation to Jones is unknown.
When authorities arrived on the scene, they noticed both airbags in Jones’ Bentley were deployed. The officers claimed Jones had slurred speech, was unsteady on his feet and it was evident the skyrocketing superstar was intoxicated.
After “politely” refusing to take a field sobriety test and a breathalyzer exam, Jones was arrested on the spot.
The 24-year-old pled guilty to Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) Tuesday in Binghamton City Court. As part of his agreement, Jones’ license was temporarily suspended and he must complete an alcohol abuse and dependency program before his June 19th sentencing.
Jones faces up to one year in jail and a $1,000 fine.
The 205-pound champ is scheduled to defend his hardware against Dan Henderson at UFC 151 on September 1st.
