On Friday night, UFC president Dana White announced heavyweight king Junior dos Santos will grant Cain Velasquez his rematch at UFC 152. The yet-to-be announced event is expected to take place September 22nd inside Air Canada Centre in Toronto.
Dos Santos is just 13 days removed from making his first successful title defense. “Cigano” easily disposed of former two-time champ Frank Mir at UFC 146.
Prior to the 2ndRound TKO victory, dos Santos put Velasquez to sleep in just 64 seconds to capture the crown in November. The 27-year-old owns a 15-1 professional record and is perfect through his last 10 scraps.
Velasquez was also victorious in the same Memorial Day weekend card. He utterly destroyed Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva in the opening round of their one-sided shootout to earn his shot at redemption.
The only blemish on Velasquez’s 11-fight resume came at the hands, or should I say right hand, of 2Santos.
