‘UFC on FX 3′: Erick Silva vs. Charlie Brenneman Video Highlights

A star was born Friday night at “UFC on FX 3.” Erick Silva (Pictured) continued his ascent up the welterweight totem pole by quickly tapping out Charlie Brenneman with a rear-naked choke in the opening round of their shootout.

Silva’s performance was also good enough to earn him an extra $40,000 for ‘Submission of the Night’ honors.

Erasing his controversial disqualification defeat to Carlo Prater in his last outing, the 27-year-old hasn’t sniffed the loss column since December of 2006.

BankAtlantic Center in Sunrise, Florida hosted last night’s festivities.

1stRound: Brenneman immediately dives for a single-leg takedown and eats a knee to the midsection for his troubles. Brenneman drags him to the ground, but Silva attempts a leg lock and they’re back to their feet. “The Spaniard” is relentless with his takedown attempts. Silva connects on another knee, but it exposed him for a takedown. He wall walks to his feet. Silva unleashing plenty of flashy kicks, landing them sporadically. Silva takes his back. He’s got both hooks in and locks in a rear-naked choke. Game. Set. Match, Silva.
