It’s just another manic Monday for the UFC. In addition to making several announcements this morning, the planet’s premier mixed martial arts promotion confirmed an undisclosed injury has forced Luiz Cane out of his UFC 150 fight against Yushin Okami (Pictured).
No need to fret, because as well all know full well the Octagon show waits for no man. Submission specialist Rousimar Palhares has agreed to serve as substitute on August 11th.
Palhares is looking to rebound from May’s loss to Alan Belcher at “UFC on FOX 3.” The Brazilian had rattled off three consecutive wins prior to the TKO defeat.
Okami hopes to right the ship after dropping two straight scraps. “Thunder” was last seen getting upset by Tim Boetsch at UFC 144. Okami was dominating much of the matchup, but Boetsch came out like a house on fire in the third and final stanza to post a comeback victory.
No word if the 185-pound affair will appear in the pay-per-view portion of the festivities.
Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado hosts the bash.
Here is the show’s updated lineup:
Jared Hamman vs. Michael Kuiper
Dennis Bermudez vs. Tom Hayden
Nik Lentz vs. Eiji Mitsuoka
Thiago Tavares vs. Dennis Hallman
Max Holloway vs. Justin Lawrence
Rousimar Palhares vs. Yushin Okami
Jake Shields vs. Ed Herman
Frankie Edgar vs. Benson Henderson (UFC lightweight champion)
