After a ho-hum night of MMA action, UFC president Dana White awarded Tito Ortiz (Pictured), Forrest Griffin and Anderson Silva each an additional $75,000 for their special performances Saturday at “UFC 148: Silva vs. Sonnen II.”
Although Ortiz ended his mixed martial arts career in defeat, the night wasn’t a complete wash for the man who will forever be known as “The Huntington Beach Bad Boy.” Ortiz and Griffin were awarded ‘Fight of the Night’ honors for their 15-minute affair.
Silva not only collected his record 10th successful title defense by beating Chael Sonnen in the show’s featured attraction, but “The Spider” also pocketed ‘Knockout of the Night’ for disposing of his archenemy.
There were no tapouts on the card. Therefore, no “Submission of the Night’ bonus was awarded.
UFC 148 took place inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Fight of the Night:
Tito Ortiz and Forrest Griffin ($75,000/each)
Knockout of the Night:
Anderson Silva ($75,000)
