UFC President Dana White was also set to make a “major” statment following the Main Event, stating that Forrest Griffin will be a Coach on Season 7 of The Ultimate Fighter. Griffin made his fame from winning a classic battle in Season 1 of The Ultimate Fighter, when he beat Stephen Bonner.
White is also scheduled to make another “major” announcement on Spike TV tomorrow at the Video Game Awards (VGA), where he will be announcing who will coach against Griffin, and ultimately fighting him once the show is over. It is rumored that Forrest’s rival coach will be current UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Quinton “Rampage” Jackson for the championship. It certainly makes sense. Both fighters last fights took place this past September, allowing both fighter enough time to recover between fights. Also, the timing is right in Forrest’s career, coming off his enormous upset of Mauricio “Shogun” Rua, who was the current number one 205-pounder in the world. As for Rampage, there really is no other fight out there right now, until we see what happens December 29 at UFC 79 where former UFC Champion Chuck Liddell will face of against former Pride Champion Wanderlei Silva, in one of the most anticipated fights of the decade. Rampage was in attendance at The Ultimate Fighter Finale tonight.
