Still don’t think UFC 148 features the biggest rematch in mixed martial arts history? The UFC has partnered up with professional artist Dave Golding to assist in kicking the ‘Silva vs. Sonnen II’ hype train into overdrive.
“I’ve always been a comic book fan since I was young. I liked heroes who had everyday problems but still tried to help people,” admitted reigning middleweight champ Anderson Silva.
For those already following the UFC’s Facebook page, you’ll know the comic book strip officially debuted this past Sunday. The series will showcase a new page each day leading up to Silva’s July 7th showdown with archenemy Chael Sonnen.
“What a thrill, to see myself in comic book form. Never before has a real life super-hero been turned into a mortal in a comic book, you will never see this in your lives again,” Sonnen said in true Chael P. Sonnen fashion.
Golding, a pro artist since 2006, is best known for his graphic novel “The Hunter.”
If you happened to miss Monday’s much-talked about conference call, you’ll want to check out what “The Spider” had to say to his chatty challenger.
After manhandling Silva for nearly five complete rounds at UFC 117, Sonnen was abruptly submitted with only 110 ticks remaining on the clock. The sequel takes place inside MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
