Late Friday night, ProElite, Inc. announced Jerold Rubinstein has been appointed the mixed martial arts promotion’s new CEO and Chairman of the Board. Rubinstein, who also assumes the same duties for ProElite’s parent company Stratus Media Group, Inc., replaces Paul Feller.
Feller will remain as a consultant to the organization.
Rubinstein has been a member of the board of directors of Stratus since March 2011 and has been chairman of the audit committee since that time. He is on the board of directors and the chairman of the audit committee of CKE Restaurants, the parent company of Carl’s Jr. Restaurants and Hardee’s Restaurants, which had $1.3 billion in revenues in 2011.
ProElite rose from the ashes like a Phoenix in August 2011. After disappearing from the MMA landscape for the past couple of years, Stratus took over the reins to host three events. All of their shows have been met with lukewarm reception, with their most recent card taking place in January.
HDNet has provided live broadcasts of their last two events.
For some MMA fans, the most noise ProElite has made since its resurrection was when they accidentally hired a porn star as one of their ring girls.
